Service Description
8 Hour – ASHER Course Description: This course provides answers to the burning question of, “How can Police, Fire, and EMS work together at such a catastrophic event in a coordinated and efficient manner to save lives?” Meets the OEMS administrative requirement for ASHER training. OEMS approved for 8 - hours of continuing education. Background and history of ASHER events and lessons learned. Understand the background and framework of ASHER and NFPA 3000 Provide an overview and understanding of the following terminology and concepts: Active Shooter ASHER Incident Command System (ICS) Staging Zones of Operation (Cold, Warm, Hot) Contact Team, Rescue Task Force, and Force Protection Ballistic Gear and Equipment MCI Management Review roles of Communications (Dispatch), Police, Fire, and EMS at ASHER events Review historic statistics and trends of ASHER events and the impact on each community Review lessons learned from previous ASHER events Course Outline Introduction Background of ASHER response, NFPA 3000 Role of Communications (Dispatch), Police, Fire, and EMS at ASHER events Importance of coordination between all public safety agencies Definitions of common terminology Review of lessons learned from previous ASHER events Incident Priorities Importance of coordinated and unified ICS Importance of accessing victims quickly, Point of Wound Care TCCC Principals Importance of Staging Importance of communications among each agency ASHER Operations ICS Unified Command Staging Contact Teams (CT) Rescue Task Force (RTF) Equipment TCCC Basics Tabletop Exercise utilizing concepts, terms and operations learned from class
